EtchRock's aim is to make fundraising as accessible for charities as possible. To achieve this, we don't charge a monthly subscription and have made the setup and on-boarding as seamless as possible. Have a read below to see how we connect charities and events to help maximise fundraising.
How it works
EtchRock provides a registration platform with integrated fundraising for those who wish to fundraise for a charity and subsequently claim a free ticket. In this scenario participants, will be able to go through the registration process and indicate that they would like to fundraise for an event. Our system will collect their information, including their fundraising target, via the registration process and will automatically create them a fundraising page. They will then be emailed a link to their fundraising page with details on how to manage it. Once their target is hit, a ticket for the event will be generated for them. This is sent to the participant via email, as well as appearing within their EtchRock account.
Charities have full visibility of all data associated with their fundraisers, including communication, donations, reporting as well as the ability to tailor custom auto-responders.
Understanding fees and flow of funds
What fee do you take from my donation?
We charge a 2% EtchRock platform fee on donations. There are also payment processing fees of typically 1.4% + 20 pence on donations made using European cards. Payment processing increases to 2.9% + 20 pence when using non-European cards.
* If the donation is eligible for Gift Aid, we submit a Gift Aid Declaration and claim the Gift Aid from HMRC. This is then passed directly to the charity.
If you already have a Stripe account, it is as simple as connecting it to EtchRock (2mins). If you don't, then there are 2 options:
1) You can create a Stripe account yourself which takes 5-10 minutes.
2) We can create a Stripe account on your behalf. As the administrator, we can provide you full access and hand over the account on request. For this option we would need your charities to complete our EtchRock and Stripe - account information form.
CHV1 and Gift Aid
EtchRock is a registered collection agent registered with HMRC. As such, we can process gift aid submissions for your charity. In order for EtchRock to claim gift aid on your behalf, you will need to add EtchRock as a collection agent for your charity with HMRC. Please see here for more information on how to do this, along with the CHV1 form you will need to complete.
Getting setup
Getting setup on EtchRock as a charity consists of four simple steps. We have broken down each step below for you. For and additional help please email partners@etchrock.com
Step 1 - Account Creation
Navigate to https://www.etchrock.com and click the 'Signup' button located to the top right of the header. Alternatively, click this link https://etchrock.com/sign-up and complete the form.
Step 2 - Become a charity partner
Once you have an account created, you'll need to get in contact with us via partners@etchrock.com so that we can list you as a charity partner. This will enable fundraising related features within your account. When we approve you as a charity partner, we will also ask if you would like us to submit Gift Aid declarations on your behalf. In order for us to do this, you'll also be required to complete a CHV1 form that you can download by clicking the above link.
Step 3 - Connect Stripe
In order to receive donations you'll need to connect a Stripe account. If you don't already have one, then we can assist with the creation of a Stripe account as described above.
Step 4 - Event listings / partner events
Once your Stripe account is created, your charity will appear within the list of charity partners that event organisers see when listing charities for their events. If you are creating your own event, then you'll also be able to create event tickets with fundraising targets.
